angle-left Success for ICT Day at UniSalento: Over 900 Interviews and 34 Companies Involved

The University of Salento hosted a highly successful ICT Day yesterday, an initiative that connected students, recent graduates, and PhD candidates in the fields of Computer Science and ICT with 34 leading companies in the industry. The main goal of the event was to establish a direct link between academia and the job market, helping young talents from the Apulia region find employment or collaboration opportunities.

Organized by the I-Store research center, directed by Professor Luigi Patrono, the event saw exceptional participation, with more than 900 interviews scheduled both in person and remotely.

ICT Day is fully aligned with UniSalento’s “third mission,” aimed at strengthening the university’s role as a bridge between knowledge and employment, positioning it as a key incubator of opportunities and growth for the entire region. The initiative also formed part of the “Mareasinistra” project, a strategic regional plan to attract and enhance talent. The project seeks to support youth development in Apulia and to attract international tech and creative talent, including digital nomads and returning Apulians.

Around nine hundred young individuals took part in the event, seeking employment or collaborative opportunities. The companies involved were looking for profiles such as graduates and students from degree programs in Computer Engineering, Information Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Management Engineering, Digital Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, and PhD candidates specializing in ICT, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Transformation. The collaboration with ARPAL Puglia was crucial, as it helped identify suitable candidates from its ICT talent database.

The I-Store team is already preparing a new event scheduled for mid-July, focused on networking. This upcoming meeting will also involve local industrial districts, with the goal of fostering new projects linked to regional funding calls and providing a clearer understanding of available digital transition opportunities.

As Professor Patrono emphasized, this is more than just a career day—it’s a major opportunity for students in the ICT field, and a clear sign of UniSalento’s leap forward in this sector.
